Hi, I'm Mike

The Ann Arbor Worm Farm was started in the living room of a 600 sq. foot garden level apartment in 2019.  It began as just a hobby, but turned into a full-fledged passion and we have been striving to help at home composters ever since.

In 2023 I became a certified Michigan Master Composter

2024 Completed Dr. Elaine Ingham's Soil Food Web Foundation Courses

Currently in the process of becoming a certified Soil Food Web Consultant

My Story

Why to start a worm bin?  Divert food waste from landfills and keep methane out of the atmosphere and besides, worms are really fun.

Super simplified way to get  started.

  • Get a container, with ventilation so the worms can breath

  • Add a few inces of a carbon, wet it to the consistency of a wrung out sponge

  • Put the worms in, let them settle in their new home

  • Add your food waste

  • Sit back, let them do their work and enjoy

There is a lot of great information on the internet and I'd like to be resource for you.  A book that I found incredibly helpful was “Worms Eat My Garbage” by Mary Applehoff and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions.
